Mashhad to host 9th assembly of Radios, TVs Union

Iranian holy city of Mashhad is to host the 9th general assembly of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union.

Iranian holy city of Mashhad is to host the 9th general assembly of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union (IRTU).

The holy city will host in July radio and TV networks, social networks and institutes in charge of producing programs in Islamic countries.

The members of the union will also take part at an internal festival and a film market dedicated to Islamic content.

The market is set to present green media products in the world and to introduce the media potentials of the Islamic world.

An exhibition for equipment related to network media technology and development will be held on the sidelines of the festival event.

Mashhad was selected as the Cultural Capital of the Muslim World for 2017 during the 7th conference of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) member states in the Algerian capital city of Algiers in 2007.

Every year, Mashhad hosts over 27 million Iranian and some two million foreign pilgrims in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

Launched in 2007 and now having 230 networks from 36 countries as member-states, the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union is aimed at overcoming the dominant single–voice air on global media.
